American University Of Sharjah Opens Student Solution Center

As part of its continuous effort to improve services to students and create an outstanding student experience, American University of Sharjah (AUS) has now opened a centralized solution center to assist students and their families with everything from grants and scholarships to securing on-campus accommodation.

One Stop – the AUS Solution Center, is a new facility located on the mezzanine level of AUS’ Main Building, a central location where students can access a wide array of university administrative services. Here students will be able to meet with representatives from the university offices that manage transportation, student accounts, residential halls, and financial grants and scholarships. As well as having staff on hand to answer questions and provide information, the center will also feature iPads for students to fill out university forms, drawing on assistance from center staff if required. A lounge area will allow students to sit comfortably with center staff to discuss their queries.

Dr. Lisa Bardill Moscaritolo, AUS’ Executive Director of Student Experience in the Office of Student Affairs, has led the establishment of this one-stop shop for student needs.

“Universities are typically large, complex places, with many different services offered to students. The center makes it much easier and more practicable to access all these services and ensure that students are given the best possible advice. The whole purpose of the center is to make life easier for students and give them more time to focus on their studies and extracurricular activities, rather than dealing with administrative tasks,” said Dr. Moscaritolo.

For incoming students and their families, the center provides a welcoming and user-friendly introduction to university life.

“There are many services new students need to access, and many administrative tasks that they need to complete before they can begin their studies. By housing many university services in one place, completing such tasks is much easier for new students. The center also provides an informal, welcoming environment for these new students to ask any questions they might have about any element of university life, and be directed to the person that can best meet their specific needs,” she added.

Reflecting on the importance of this centralized solution center for new students, Layan Al Sourani, President of Student Council, said: “I am looking forward to seeing this service available because I know it will ease the process of joining AUS for new students. Additionally, it will increase efficiency for all current students in accessing any required resources which will definitely improve the AUS student experience.”
