Sharjah Indian School is a Senior Secondary School, Owned and Managed by Indian Association Sharjah. Established in 1979 with 280 pupils and 13 teachers, the school stands as a landmark in the annals of the Indo- UAE friendship. Today after 40 years, the school has a strength of 13,937 students and 588 teachers with 8300 Students and 349 Teachers at Ghubaiba Branch . The school is approved and licensed by the private Education Department of the Ministry of Education , UAE and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi , India. The school which stands on a plot of land most graciously donated by H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has a purpose built and magnificent infrastructure.

An agreement was signed between His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the then Victorian Labor government of Australia, for the establishment of Victoria International School of Sharjah in November 2005. The school opened for classes in September 2007 on a purpose built (Victorian designed) campus on the border of Dubai and Sharjah. The teaching methods and the curriculum standards from Victoria impressed HH, whose vision to build a lighthouse school that would act to support improvement and development in education in Sharjah, saw him look to the Victorian Department of Education to collaborate on creating a Victorian model school.
