Middlesex University Dubai Awarded ‘University Of The Year’ For Advertising At Prestigious Dubai Lynx Festival Of Creativity

Middlesex University Dubai proudly walked away with the title ‘University of the Year 2019’ at the annual Dubai Lynx Festival, a platform for the brightest creative minds in the region.

“We are extremely proud of our students and our faculty who have brought such honour to the University at the Dubai Lynx. It was a close competition against other reputable universities was challenging, which makes us even prouder that the sheer talent from Middlesex University Dubai pulled through and made it among the winners. I would like to express my gratitude to the judges and to all my colleagues who guided and nurtured these students to achieve such great success,” said Dr Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of Middlesex University Dubai.

Students from Middlesex University Dubai’s Art and Design and Media Departments scored the highest points in both the Masar Student Creative Award for Print Competition, and the Student Integrated Award Competition. This has truly been an exceptional year for the University’s Media students, who were also awarded first place in the Middle East PR Association (MEPRA) student competition in 2018.

“As a University, we strive to cultivate our students’ dreams and ambitions and provide them with the necessary tools and platforms for them to unleash their talent. This is indeed a phenomenal accomplishment and we would like to encourage our students to keep pushing the boundaries”, he further added.

The Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity is an annual gathering where the MENA region brings the crème de la crème of the creative industry in recognition of the superior talents in the advertising and communication fields. It is the region’s premier gathering of advertising and media professionals ahead of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2019.

Thea Skelton, Festival Director of Dubai Lynx said “Dubai Lynx is committed to providing opportunities for creative talent to learn and develop. We believe that creativity matters and these competitions offer students a chance to demonstrate their ability. Middlesex University Dubai had a fantastic year and these students are shining examples of the next generation of creativity.”

Middlesex University Dubai enjoys strong industry relations and is a member of the Middle East PR Association (MEPRA), and enjoys access to resources from both the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and the Public Relations and Communications Association. Students were also invited to present their works at the International Advertising Association headquarters in Dubai Media City, earlier this year.
